Building blocks of Autify
First, let's take a look at the building blocks of Autify and the most frequently used screens.
[Test Scenario] is the unit for running tests. It consists of a series of steps, including input and verification of elements within the application that is being tested.
With Autify, you can create a [Test Scenario] without writing code, and the [Test Scenario] will be easy to understand for people with varying degrees of technical backgrounds.
We recommend that you create a [Test Scenario] for each sequence of the process that you would like to test.
For example, let's look at a simple application form:
- Specify the URL of an application form to Visit the site
- Assert the text to verify the title of the application form
- Input the text into the application form
- Click on the application button
- Assert the text displayed on the application result screen
All of these steps can be recorded in a [Test Scenario] without writing code, and run on various test execution environments provided by Autify.
Autify Recorder is a Chrome Extension for recording [Test Scenarios]. It records your operation on the screen or assertions you created, then saves each of them as a Step of a scenario. When you're recording, you must enable incognito mode on Chrome browser. For details on how to install Autify Recorder, please refer to the next chapter "User registration and setup".
This is the page to view and edit the [Test Scenario].
On this screen, you can review your [Test Scenario] which you recorded with Autify Recorder. You can also edit existing steps, add or delete steps. To update your [Test Scenario], it is recommended to edit on this screen, click [Save] > [Run on Chrome]. Repeat this process as necessary.
Test Case Result Details Page
This is the page to view test results.
On this screen, you can review the test result of each step in the [Test Scenario] with corresponding screenshots. If you have a result from the previous test, you can compare the screenshots side by side.
Test Plans define how Autify runs Test Scenarios.
In a [Test Plan], you can manage when / on which environment / which [Test Scenarios] to execute on Autify. You can specify multiple [Test Scenarios], environments, schedules in a [Test Plan], so It is useful to have a test plan for each purpose.
